Understanding the Ukraine War's Digital Dimensions
24th of October 2024 | Bucharest, Romania
Organised by The National Defence University, Romania
About The Event
This workshop explores the intricate dynamics of cyber warfare as exemplified by the Ukraine conflict. This session aims to explore the digital dimensions of modern warfare, highlighting the strategic use of cyber tools in conflict scenarios. The workshop will provide a platform for participants to discuss real-world cyber threats, defence strategies, and the lessons learned from the Ukraine war.
This theme is particularly pertinent to the European context, where geopolitical tensions and cyber threats are interlinked with the Ukraine war evolution and consequencies. Understanding the role of cyber operations in contemporary conflicts is crucial for both civilian and military stakeholders. The workshop will address the significance of shared cybersecurity standards and collaborative defence measures, emphasising the need for an integrated approach to national and regional security.
Cyber threats are deeply intertwined, with attacks on the military sector often impacting civilian infrastructures and vice versa. This interconnectedness means that a breach in one area can have cascading effects, disrupting services and undermining security across multiple sectors.
By examining case studies and engaging in hands-on activities, participants will gain insights into the dual-use technologies employed in cyber conflicts. This knowledge will be instrumental in developing robust defence strategies that can be applied across various sectors. The workshop also aims to foster a deeper understanding of the implications of cyber warfare on public safety, economic stability, and national security.
